February 2010

The Greenwich Boatworks Marina, in Greenwich, New Jersey, was home to these many retired wooden commercial fishing boats.
I am told that many have been taken away since I was there a couple of yeas ago. Too bad, they were fun to walk around and document. Glad I have as much as I have. Will do a gallery just on the boats in the near future.
I was pleased when the art gallery was open to my idea to experiment with a window display featuring the details of a few of these boats.
My concept was to created reclaimed wood boards as backgrounds to mimic the chipping paint and patch's in the photos. My dad actually built them for me with wood saved from an old house circa 1913. So it was all very fitting. The displays have been a big topic of discussion, seems everyone has enjoyed them. The windows as you can see had additional props all boat/fishing themed. Was a lot of work but great to do window display again. I used to do different types of displays for clients in windows and stores and agencies.
